VELIKY NOVGOROD, October 10 (RIA Novosti's Andrei Letyagin) - Russia's first open air archeology museum will be created in Veliky Novgorod, RIA Novosti was told on Sunday in the Novgorod state museum-preserve.

The museum will be created on the basis of an archeological excavation site in the city's historical center. Specialists would like it to be situated in the city's "trade side," where cultural layers reach a depth of 8 meters. The projected area of the museum will be some 2,000 sq.m.

The museum-preserve officials plan to show several archeological "cutoffs" which will tell the visitors about the main periods of the ancient Russian capital's history.

The museum will be covered with a huge "umbrella" - a special construction that will protect it and its visitors from bad weather.

The specific term to complete work on the project has not been specified. In archeologists' words, it may take several years.
