ARMENIAN-RUSSIAN CENTER OF INTER-REGIONAL COOPERATION OPENS IN YEREVAN

YEREVAN, October 2 (RIA Novosti's Gamlet Matevosyan) - The Armenian-Russian center of inter-regional cooperation has opened in Yerevan on Saturday.

Russian Federation Council Speaker Sergei Mironov and Armenian National Assembly Speaker Artur Bagdasaryan took part in the opening ceremony.

According to Mr. Mironov, the agreement to establish the center was achieved at the conference on Armenian-Russian inter-regional cooperation in May 2004 in Samara. Its participants pointed out that inter-regional links were "an important factor of development of overall relations between the two countries".

At the moment 70 Russian regions maintain links with Armenia, Sergei Mironov said.
