Palestinian ambassador to Russia Heiri al Oreidi said this to RIA Novosti on Saturday commenting on the postponed visit by Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei.
"Mr. Qurei's visit to Moscow scheduled for October 3-5 was postponed for an uncertain time in connection with the Israeli military operation in the Gaza Strip," the ambassador added.
According to him, over 50 people were killed and hundreds of houses destroyed as a result of this operation.
"The actions of the Israeli army do not maintain peace and prove that those who doubted the sincerity of peaceful intentions of Israeli Prime Minister Sharon were right," the ambassador stressed.
Nevertheless, the Palestinian leadership and people "adhere to the peace process and bilateral fulfillment of the road map obligations", Heiri al Oreidi said.
"Only peace can guarantee stability and security in the Middle East," he emphasized.
