"Do not look for politics where it cannot be found," said the military prosecutor-general's official spokesman Mikhail Yanenko when commenting on certain Ukrainian critical statements concerning the act of putting Timoshenko on a wanted list.
"We are investigating into a definite criminal case in strict compliance with Russian law. It is because of this that none of the procedure documents passed by Russia in relation to this case has been appealed against; nor has this been done in relation to charges against Timoshenko," said Yanenko.
"A relevant inquiry has already lasted for a couple of months but only now a routine investigatory procedure of summoning Timoshenko to interrogation, has come under fire from certain public figures in Ukraine. It is they and only they who try to add some political and "made to order" flair to the usual procedure of crime investigation," said Yanenko.
The day before, Major General Vladimir Samusev, chief of the MPGO inquiry department, announced Timoshenko's official retrieval. "Besides, the measure of restraint chosen for her is putting in custody," he added.
Samusev said that Yulia Timoshenko, the former boss of the industrial-financial corporation "United Energy Systems of Ukraine", charged with masterminding bribery of Russian officers, had not made her appearance at the appointed time after having been summoned for facing an indictment and interrogation as a defendant.
