WASHINGTON, D.C., September 12 (RIA Novosti's Arkady Orlov) - Terrorism is a global problem, and the civilized world ought to defeat terrorism at any cost, U.S. Vice President Richard Cheney told Republican activists in Wisconsin in his Saturday address.

We know that terrorists are still out there. Although we have secured or destroyed several hundreds of them, we will be facing this problem for a long time to come, he said.

This is a global problem, Cheney added.

Citing terror attacks in the U.S., Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Indonesia, and other countries, Cheney emphasized that the North Ossetian bloodbath is also a major crime committed by international terrorism.

In the past two weeks we have seen twin airliner crashes and terrible events in Beslan in Southern Russia, he stressed. This is a global problem. Sponsors of terrorism use it worldwide against innocent men and women to attain their political goals. The civilized world just cannot put up with it and cannot agree with this. We ought to defeat terrorism at any price, the U.S. Vice President said.
