HAMBURG, September 10 (RIA Novosti) -The Head of the Federal Industry Agency, Boris Aleshin, believes that the Russian-German economic cooperation experience is a key factor for Russian-European cooperation.

"All that has been achieved so far within the framework of the Russian-German cooperation is a good example for the whole of Europe," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti during the Hamburg-hosted fourth Russian-German forum St. Petersburg Dialogue.

"A lot of Russia's economic problems have been settled by virtue of ongoing dialogue between the two countries and a benevolent attitude of the German business community and government", stressed the agency head. He said he was talking about the use of the German economy's positive experience.

In Mr. Aleshin's opinion, the Russian-German relations are very promising indeed. Primarily, they should be developed in the area of air materiel, space, power engineering industry and communications, he pointed out.

There are not impediments for German companies' activities on the Russian territory, stressed Mr. Aleshin. "After registration they enjoy the same rights as Russian companies", he added.

Addressing the problems, which German cargoes encountered at the customs, Mr. Aleshin emphasized that the new Customs Code had removed most of them. "This document is subject to further development", he noted.

"Development of the Russian-German cooperation is hindered by various risks, which German companies sometimes face. But we are continuously working over their elimination", said the agency head.

The opinion that the Russian-German cooperation is very promising is also shared by Klaus Mangold, chairman of the Eastern Committee for the German Economy. "Certainly, cooperation in the oil and gas area will still prevail. But there are a lot of spheres, where Russia is leading the way," he said at the press conference.

With this regard Mr. Mangold mentioned the Hanover fair to be held in 2005. "Russia will be provided with all opportunities to show its achievements in the hi-tech area", he said pointing out that of no small share in this can be former defense industry enterprises.
