The ceremony was attended by co-chairmen of the Russian-Chinese Committee for Friendship, Peace and Development Leonid Drachevski and Li Guisiang, as well as Russian ambassador Igor Grachev.
The contest was held by the Russian embassy jointly with the holding Renmin Ribao on the basis of the embassy's official web site. The eight winners have been awarded with trips to Moscow and St.Petersburg.
Regular holding of such contests will promote friendship between the two peoples, Igor Drachevski said.
Taking the floor, Yui Ninh, deputy editor-in-chief of Renmin Ribao, voiced the hope that the contest Do You Know China? for Russian participants, organised jointly with RIA Novosti, will be as successful.
"Such contests make a serious contribution to Russian-Chinese friendship", he said.
The Renmin Ribao holding is going further to strengthen cooperation with RIA Novosti in this direction, Yui Ninh said.
The on-line contest Do You Known China? was timed to coincide with the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the People's Republic of China and the Russian Federation and the Year of Chinese and Russian Youth Friendship. It was held by the newspaper Renmin Ribao, All-China Youth Federation, RIA Novosti with support from the Russian embassy to China.
