BALTIC NAVY MEN TO PARTICIPATE IN RUSSIAN ART FESTIVAL IN CANNES

KALININGRAD, AUGUST 27 (RIA Novosti) - In course of a warships cruise, Baltic navy men take part in the Russian art festival in Cannes in France, RIA Novosti learnt on Friday from the press service of the Russian Baltic fleet.

"The organising committee has given 100 tickets for each vessel. The military orchestra of the Baltic fleet headquarters will perform before the French audience", the press service said.

On September 9 through 12 Navy men will visit the Lisbon port in Portugal, where ceremonial calls and reciprocal visits to Russian and Portuguese will be made, sports competitions held.

"During the business call to the Cartagena port in Spain, Russians and Spaniards will act out joint missions. At this time of year a fiesta is held in Spain. We'll see whether Spaniards are ready or not to drop the festival for business. Plans for joint training will be made while in the Mediterranean", the press service said.

The cruise under the flag of Rear-Admiral Vasili Apanovich, second in command of the Baltic fleet, began on August 6. The naval unit is made up of the Neustrashimy escort ship, Kaliningrad big landing ship with a marine unit, the Lena tanker.
