GAZPROM, CHINESE NATIONAL PETROLEUM COMPANY TO NEGOTIATE FOR STRATEGIC COOPERATION

MOSCOW, August 25 (RIA Novosti) - Gazprom and the Chinese National Petroleum Company will launch negotiations on strategic cooperation on Thursday, Russian Industry and Energy Minister Viktor Khristenko said at the 6th session of the Russian-Chinese sub-commission for energy cooperation.

Speaking about cooperation in gas sphere, the minister pointed out the necessity of complex development of the Siberian and Far Eastern resources, the Industry and Energy Ministry says in a press release.

"We shall focus on the oil pipeline project," he noted.

According to him, the current level of cooperation in this sphere will be preserved.

During the talks the sides agreed to boost railway gas supplies to China, reads the press release. The sides will take all efforts and make a relevant agreement in this sphere.

Moreover, Russia and China agreed to develop border cooperation in the electric energy sphere, in particular, Russia is to supply electric energy to China.

The sides are to encourage participation of Russian companies in the industrial corporation tender in electric engineering. "Representatives of Russian banks involved in the negotiations are interested in crediting of deals in this sphere," Viktor Khristenko said.
