PUTIN LAYS FLOWERS TO AKHMAD KADYROV'S GRAVE

TSENTOROI (Chechnya), August 22 (RIA Novosti) - Russian President Vladimir Putin, together with Ramzan Kadyrov and Alu Alkhanov, laid flowers to the grave of Akhmad Kadyrov at the cemetery of the village of Tsentoroi in the Chechen Republic. Mr. Putin arrived here on Sunday morning.

The Russian President gave a high assessment of the courage of the perished Chechen President.

"We lost a sincere, courageous, talented and honest man," he said. "He had no other aim except for serving his nation," stressed the president.

"He was approaching this aim in a complicated way, but he was always honest and we have to do everything possible to carry out what Akhmad Kadyrov had in mind, all his good deeds and beginnings," Mr. Putin said.

"We have to do it for the benefit of the Chechen people, for the benefit of all those who live in the republic, and consider it their motherland, for the benefit of Russia," stressed the President.

Chechen presidential hopeful Alu Alkhanov thanked the Russian President for attention to Chechnya's problems.

"Thank you for coming to the grave of our President Akhmad Kadyrov in this hard time," Mr. Alkhanov said.

"We are grateful for this and on our part, we believe that the cause started by Akhmad Kadyrov, his course and policy will be continued by his associates and colleagues," Mr. Alkhanov said.

Today Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Sochi, reported presidential press secretary Aleksei Gromov.

In his words, Alu Alkhanov, who is the head of the public council for control over Chechnya's restoration, and Chechen Vice Premier Ramzan Kadyrov (Akhmad Kadyrov's son) arrived in Sochi together with the president.

Akhmad Kadyrov died as a result of a terrorist act in Chechnya's capital Grozny on May 9. Early presidential elections are scheduled for August 29.
