MOSCOW, August 17 (RIA Novosti) - The rate of the U.S. dollar to the ruble remained at the Monday level of 29.22 rubles per dollar on Tuesday. According to experts, this was due to the Central Bank's interference in the trading session.

The rate of the dollar to the ruble, calculated for tomorrow, decreased 0.77 kopecks down to 29.2152 rubles per dollar on MICEX, as compared to the Monday figure.

At the opening of the trading session, the rate was hardly different from the Monday index of 29.21 rubles per dollar.

According to dealers, the on-going sales of dollars and the purchase of rubles for tax payments create prerequisites for a drop in the dollar rate. However, the Central Bank sets the bottom rate of the dollar at the level of 29.215 rubles per dollar. This was the mark at which the Russian regulator declared its presence at the trading session, analysts believe.

According to Igor Vasilyev, head of the currency and financial operations of Alfa-Bank, the trading session was not active, and the rate did not drop at the level set by the Central Bank. According to the expert, if the Central Bank does not change its application for the currency, the dollar rate to the ruble will not particularly drop and remain within 29.215-29.22 rubles per dollar till the end of the week.

Mr. Vasilyev added that the drop in the dollar on the world currency market due to negative macroeconomic expectations of the market participants has no effect on the Russian currency market yet.

The European currency on the Russian market gained 2.2 kopecks on Tuesday to reach the rate of 36.1503 rubles per euro. Unlike with the dollar, the euro's dynamics on the Russian market follows its dynamics on Forex, experts say. In the past four weeks of expectations that the U.S. Government would report a drop in the July inflation rate, the dollar rate to the euro has remained at the minimal level of $1.23 per euro.
