MOSCOW, August 9 (RIA Novosti) - President of the Russian Olympic Committee Leonid Tyagachev is convinced that Russian athletes will avoid doping scandals during the 28th Summer Olympic Games in Greece.

"At least the Russian Olympic Committee has done its best. We took into account all drawbacks of the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City and set up an anti-doping inspection headed by Nikolai Durmanov. Nevertheless, we are not safe from anything," Mr. Tyagachev told a press conference in the Izvestia media center.

According to him, all heads of Russian sports federations and coaches of national teams signed a document implying their personal responsibility for "purity" of their athletes. If sportsmen use prohibited medicines, a strict punishment threatens them, their coaches and federations' heads, he said adding that they might even have to quit sports forever.

The diet of Russian athletes contains no prohibited additives, only ecologically pure vegetarian substances, proteins and carbohydrates, which sportsmen need after long training sessions.
