RUSSIAN FOREIGN MINISTRY RESOLUTELY CONDEMNS TERRORIST ACTS IN TASHKENT

MOSCOW, July 31 (RIA Novosti) - Moscow resolutely condemns the terrorist attacks on Tashkent aimed to destabilize the situation in the country and disseminate panic and insecurity feelings among the locals, reads the Russian Foreign Ministry's statement issued on Saturday.

"We express solidarity with the friendly Uzbek leadership and people and confirm Russia's position on the necessity to join efforts of the world community on the overall uncompromising fight against international terrorism," the statement underscores.

On Friday afternoon suicide bombers committed terrorist acts near the Uzbek Prosecutor General's Office and Israeli and U.S. embassies, the Foreign Ministry said. Two Uzbek policemen were killed and nine people wounded as a result.

A number of suspects of the yesterday's terrorist acts were detained, a source in the Uzbek Interior Ministry told RIA Novosti on Saturday.

Moreover, one of the killed suicide bombers was identified, the source added. The names of the detainees and the bomber are not disclosed in the interests of the investigation.

Uzbekistan's Interior Ministry does not know yet if terrorist attacks were masterminded by a certain organization.
