MOSCOW, July 23 (RIA Novosti) - Russian gymnasts to take part in the Olympic Games have flown Friday evening to Athens, reports Gennady Shvets, head of the Russian Olympic Committee press-service. It was the coaches' decision to fly so early, added Shvets. The Russian gymnastics delegation includes 40 men.
The next flight from Russia to the Greek Games, with Olympic medical personnel on board, will be on July 30. Divers are to go on the next day.
The very first Russian delegation which came to the Olympic capital early last week, were administrators led by Anatoly Kolesov, the chief of the Athens-2004 group.
The bulk of the Russian envoys are to return to Moscow from Athens on August 30, a day after the official closing ceremony of the Games.
