MOSCOW, July 13 (RIA Novosti) - Sergei Stepashin, chairman of the Russian Audit Chamber, is worried by information on the use of torture against ex-head of the Georgian Control Chamber Sulkhan Molashvili, now kept in a pre-trial detention center. It is said in telegrams sent to the Georgian parliamentary speaker and prime minister, reports the information and public relations board of the Audit Chamber.

In the opinion of Sergei Stepashin (he also heads the European Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions), media reports cause serious concern among his foreign colleagues - heads of the Eurosai bodies.

"The head of the Audit Chamber hopes that Georgian leaders, at whose name corresponding telegrams have been sent, will not leave unattended the situation around Molashvili, will be able to ensure the observance of legality and human rights," reads the Audit Chamber communique.
