MOSCOW, July 1 (RIA Novosti) - The Coordination Council of the Russian People's Patriotic Union does not confirm Gennady Zyuganov's dismissal from the post of the Union's chairman.

"All decisions on the People's Patriotic Union reforms will be taken at the congress in the fourth quarter of 2004," the Coordination Council's press service said commenting on the statements on Gennady Zyuganov's alleged dismissal.

"Only the congress is authorized to change the regulations, elect members of the Coordination Council and chairman of the People's Patriotic Union," the press service stressed.

It was reported earlier that the Coordination Council appointed Gennady Semigin acting chairman of the People's Patriotic Union.

"Mr. Semigin may assume any titles and proclaim himself even the Pope. It is hardly possible to stop Mr. Semigin who is fond of collecting different posts," the press service noted.
