MOSCOW, May 17 (RIA Novosti) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has accepted the Iranian government's invitation to visit Tehran, acting Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov reported Monday.

Speaking at a joint news conference with his visiting Iranian counterpart, Kamal Kharrazi, Mr. Lavrov said that "President Putin has confirmed with thanks his willingness to accept the Iranian side's invitation [for him] to make a visit to Tehran." The visit's timeframe is to be set later on, he added.

The Iranian Foreign Minister, for his part, reminded the media that this year Tehran will be hosting a second summit meeting of the Caspian nations. As Mr. Kharrazi said, Putin will come to Tehran both to attend the summit and to meet "in the bilateral format" with the host country's political top.
