SPANISH PREMIER EXPRESSES CONDOLENCES TO PUTIN IN CONNECTION WITH TERRORIST ACT IN CHECHNYA

MOSCOW, May 9 (RIA Novosti) - Vladimir Putin and chairman of the Spanish government Jose Luis Zapatero had a telephone conversation on Sunday on the initiative of the Spanish side, the Kremlin's press service has reported.

"On behalf of the Spanish people Chairman of the Spanish government expressed deep and sincere condolences to and solidarity with the people of Russia in connection with today's barbarous terrorist act at a stadium in Grozny, the press service's report says.

"The two sides expressed firm intention to step up very close practical interaction in combating terrorism both within the bilateral format and within the framework of international mechanisms", the press service has reported.
