STAVROPOL, May 1 (RIA Novosti) - More than 500 inhabitants of highland areas of Chechnya have received quality medical aid as part of a humanitarian operation organized by the Federal Security Service's North Caucasus Frontier Department.
According to Sergei Livantsov, head of the department press service, the first leg of the operation was completed just before the May Day weekend. The field hospital set up by the Moscow-based Emergency Medicine Center in the Chechen village of Borzoi has in the past three days provided medical aid, including surgery, for about 530 patients, many of them children, from three rural areas of Chechnya and even from the neighboring Ingushetia.
The hospital will now head on for the nearby highland area of Itum-Kale. Its safe operations up there will be ensured by the Argun frontier guards unit, which controls the Chechen section of Russia's border with Georgia.
