MOSCOW, April 26 (RIA Novosti's Olga Lipich) - On Monday the Moscow Jewish Community Center in Maryina Roscha hosted the opening of the CIS Rabbis' Conference on Jewish religious law.

"We have gathered here to discuss religious law. Today, we can find answers on different questions, even genetic technologies, in the Torah," Berl Lazar, chairman of the CIS Rabbis' Council and chief rabbi of Russia (according to the Russian Jewish Communities' Federation), said at the opening ceremony.

"These days we will be trying to find answers to modern questions and consider different situations through the prism of the Torah," he emphasized.

Israel's leading experts will deliver lectures on relations between Jewish rights and technological progress; organization of Jewish funerals in compliance with religious and legal norms; construction and repairs of Jewish cemeteries; and preparation of enterprises to receive rabbi kosher certificates.

The CIS rabbis will also focus on upkeep of Jewish homes and upbringing of younger generation.

Apart from this, seminars on different problems of Jewish family law, including the marriage contract or ketubah, will be organized within the conference.

Over 100 rabbis from CIS member states and Israel, as well as representatives of the Moscow Patriarchy, the Council of Russia's muftis and the Moscow City government attended the forum.

The conference will last for four days and will be held in Moscow and the Moscow region.

It was organized by Russia's chief rabbinate and Berl Lazar.
