KIEV, April 22 (RIA Novosti's Evgeni Alexandrov) - Television casts are to entirely shift to the Ukrainian language, determined the National Council for Television and Radio Broadcasting. With this, the council is clashing with Ukraine's Constitution, says President Leonid Kuchma.

"The resolution is legally invalid, and trespasses the Ukrainian Constitution. It has to be brought into compliance with the acting Fundamental Law. It will be done, I am sure," the President said in the Crimea's Bakhchisarai, reports his press service.

The National Council confirmed, April 14, its recommendations to national and interregional television channels, which demands casting in the Ukrainian language alone. As for areas predominantly populated by ethnic minorities, the council vouches to take audiences' demands into the greatest possible consideration in contests for broadcasts in such areas.

According to the latest population census, of 2001, a total 130 ethnic entities are represented in Ukraine.
