According to the abbot of the icon's church, hieromonch Roman, the procession will go via the ports of Vladivostok, Nagasaki (Japan), Yosu (South Korea), Dalian/Port Arthur (China). It is devoted to the 100th anniversary of the Russian-Japanese war.
During the voyage, services will be held on the scenes of battles, blessed crosses will be laid on water. The participants will visit the Russian cemetery in Port Arthur and meet representatives of the public and the Orthodox Church abroad.
The Russian-Japanese war was unleashed by Japan in February 1904. After a series of big defeats at sea and on land, including the battle of Liaoyan, the defense of Port Arthur and the battles of Mukden and Tsushima, in 1905 Russia signed the Portsmouth peace treaty with Japan, ceding South Sakhalin and the Kuril range, which became invalid after Japan's capitulation in World War II (1939-1945).
