MINSK, April 14 (RIA Novosti's Olesia Luchaninova) - Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko maintains that the Belarussian opposition is financed from Russia.

"In recent time, the West has ceased to finance the Belarussian opposition as it did before. Certain circles in Russia have now begun to finance it", Lukashenko said appearing before Belarussian parliamentarians.

In his opinion, these circles in Russia have no information on the situation in Belarus and know it worse than the West.

"Belarussian opposition figures have become reoriented, declaring their allegedly pro-Russian position. As soon as present power is wiped out, in Belarus nobody will talk any more about a pro-Russian policy", Lukashenko said.

In his opinion, the present Belarussian leadership is so much conducting a pro-Russian policy that "it only remains to surrender sovereignty and independence".

"We will not go for that", Lukashenko said.

"Moscow and the West are mistaken that they can decide who will be the president of Belarus", Lukashenko continued.

The Belarussian people will make their own choice, he stressed. In turn, the leadership of Belarus will do all for their choice to be conscientious, Lukashenko said.
