Proposed Duma Regulations amendments envisaged the number of house committees cut to 17 from the current 29. As the Rodina sees it, the Duma ought to have a mere several major committees for house structure to repeat new federal government arrangements.
The group does not think the house needs more than one First Deputy Speaker. That one will coordinate Duma legislative activities. The number of Vice-Speakers demands a cut to three. At present, the house has two First Deputy Speakers and eight Vice-Speakers.
As Mr. Rogozin insists, the one First Deputy Speaker ought to represent parliamentary majority-that is, the United Russia group, while the three Vice-Speakers will represent all the other groups, one each.
With its blueprints, the Rodina means to streamline the parliamentary routine in keeping with the spirit and the letter of an administrative reform underway in Russia, and facilitate parliament/government contacts.
The MP does not think the Duma Council will refuse to consider the drafts as they promise to bring the legislature closer to the executive. He wonders why the administrative reform has not involved parliament to this day.
The Rodina is ready with three drafts to amend the house Regulations.
