WASHINGTON, March 29 (RIA Novosti) - NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer said it is necessary to strengthen partner-like relations between the North Atlantic alliance and Russia.
"We need - in the interests of NATO and Russia - a solid partnership, which means that we will be able to discuss not only simple things but those that are harder to resolve as well," Mr Scheffer told CNN.
The NATO secretary general is in Washington where he is taking part in a ceremony at which the Latvian, Lithuanian, Estonian, Bulgarian, Romanian, Slovak and Slovene prime ministers will officially submit to the U.S. the ratified protocols on their countries' joining NATO.
