RAMIL KHABRIYEV APPOINTED HEAD OF FEDERAL SERVICE FOR HEALTH, SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT CONTROL

MOSCOW, March 26, 2004. (RIA Novosti). Ramil Khabriyev was appointed head of the Russian Federal Service for Control over Health Care and Social Development.

Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov signed a relevant order, the government information department said.

Ramil Khabriyev was born on May 18, 1953. He graduated from the Kazan Medical Institute. Mr. Khabriyev is a doctor of medicine.

From 1989 till 1994 he was the Health Minister of Tatarstan.

In 1994-2001 he headed for government department on state control over medicines' quality, effectiveness and security of the Russian Health Ministry. In April 2001 Mr. Khabriyev became director general of the Biopreparat company.

He is the author of some 40 research works on public health care and a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences.

Ramil Khabriyev is married and has two children.
