MOSCOW, March 24, 2004. ( RIA Novosti). Four citizens of Azerbaijan who had kidnapped a Palestinian national were detained in Moscow, the press service of the Moscow interior affairs department told RIA Novosti.
"A man who has been living in Moscow since 2001 came to a police station and made a statement on the kidnapping of his 33-year-old Palestinian friend," the press service said. The criminals demanded 150,000 roubles (more than $5,000) for freeing the Palestinian.
Moscow policemen carried out a search operation and detained four citizens of Azerbaijan, aged from 23 to 30, suspected of kidnapping the Palestinian. The kidnapped was set free.
An investigation is underway.
