MOSCOW, MARCH 11, 2004. (RIA NOVOSTI). The Russian government approved an agreement with Ukraine on the settlement of claims which arose after the air crash on October 4, 2001 and submitted it to the lower house of parliament for ratification. This information was disclosed by the Government Information Department (GID).

In compliance with the agreement, Ukraine will pay Russia, in favour of the relatives of those who died in the air crash, the sum equivalent to $200,000 for each dead. The GID recalled that on October 4, 2001 the Ukrainian missile shot down the Russian plane, which followed the Tel-Aviv-Novosibirsk route, over the Black Sea. Seventy-eight people died then. The GID pointed out that husbands, wives, kins and children of the air crash victims are considered to be relatives of the dead.
