"Documents are kept in the staff for weeks and months, it's a well known drawback of its work," Mr. Kudrin said Saturday at a session of the State Commission on preparation for the celebration of the 1000th anniversary of Kazan (capital of Tatarstan - a republic on the Volga).
"We won't allow this to continue any longer," said the acting vice premier.
He said a number of program events to celebrate Kazan's anniversary had not been financed from the federal budget for two months. "The documents were kept in the staff, and I did not even know there's such red tape there," Mr. Kudrin said.
In his words, next week, all documents will be signed and financing will start. "Yesterday I gave such an instruction," said the acting deputy prime minister.
Mr. Kudrin expressed the hope that the new prime minister will reduce the number of government officials and enhance the efficiency of its work.
"I hope the new prime minister will establish order in the work of the staff, having reduced it and enhanced its efficiency," he said.
