PARIS, March 6, 2004. (RIA Novosti correspondent) - Moscow hails France's initiative to hold an international conference on Iraq, Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov said at a press conference after a session of the Russian-French council for security co-operation.
In his words, the conference will boost trust and security in the region as a whole.
Ivanov emphasised that the conference could be attended by representatives of the Iraqi political forces, permanent members of the UN Security Council and other interested persons and structures.
"We are ready to closely co-operate in the arrangement of the conference," said the Russian foreign minister.
