TEHRAN, February 21 (RIA Novosti correspondent Nikolai Terekhov) - As many as 272,947 Afghan refugees have returned home from Iran in the past 11 months, said Mohammad Alman, head of the emigrants' department of the interior ministry of the eastern Iranian province Horasan.
He added that 124,435 people had returned home within the joint program of Afghan refugees' repatriation of the Iranian government and the UN High Commission for Refugees.
Statistics suggest that about 2.5 million refugees from Afghanistan lived in Iran, and 700,000 of them have already returned home in the past few years.
