KIEV, JANUARY 23, RIA NOVOSTI - All Russian power branches are focusing efforts on strategic tasks to offer a good example to Ukraine, Leonid Kuchma, its President, said to a news conference in Kiev.
When an Ukrainian reporter asked him about what he thought of parliament convening an extraordinary session, President Kuchma remarked: "When it comes to parliamentary routine, newsmen ought to address their questions not to me but to President Vladimir Putin. He is the man to say what is to be done to make rulers concentrate on strategic priorities. They are not to stoop to the level we saw at the Supreme Rada [Ukrainian parliament] shortly before and after New Year celebrations." It is up to parliament alone to decide whether it needs an extraordinary session or not, stressed the President.
