MOSCOW, January 1, 2004. /RIA Novosti correspondent/. Irina Khakamada, on Thursday, January 1, submitted documents to the Central Election Committee of Russia to register an initiative group that supports her self-nomination as a presidential candidate.
"We are now at the Central Election Committee, checking the documents. Irina is in a fine mood," her press-secretary Vitaly Yevstigneyev told RIA Novosti.
Khakamada's self-nomination was supported by the Democratic Russia party. A decision of the Union of Right Forces (SPS) on possible organisational support of its chairman will be discussed at a congress on January 24.
