BANGKOK (Sputnik) — Reports of a third explosion in two days in the Thai capital, allegedly taking place in the suburbs, are incorrect, a representative of Bangkok’s police department said Tuesday.
"Rumors began to circulate at about 4 p.m. (09:00 GMT) in Thai and English social networks about a new explosion in Bangkok, in the Bang Kae district, with photos of smoke. This information was not confirmed. There was a regular domestic fire in Bang Kae," the representative told the Thai Nathion News television channel.
The rumors follow a Monday night bomb explosion in the center of Bangkok, killing 27 and wounding over 100 people.
Monday’s attack was followed by another explosion, occurring earlier on Tuesday after an identified man threw a device, thought to be a hand grenade, from the Taksin bridge into a canal, causing no injuries.
