Russian Swimmer Ustinova Allowed to Take Part in Rio Olympics
23:04 GMT 06.08.2016 (Updated: 23:13 GMT 06.08.2016) Russian swimmer Daria Ustinova has been fully cleared by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and allowed to take part in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Brazil, the Russian Swimming Federation said.
RIO DE JANEIRO (Sputnik) — A spokesperson for the Russian Swimming Federation told R-Sport agency that Ustinova was being settled in the Rio de Janeiro Olympic village.
Earlier Ustinova filed an appeal to the CAS over her doping-related ban on participation in the 2016 Olympics in Brazil.
In July, the Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) prohibited all Russian athletes from taking part in international competitions, including the Rio Olympics, over doping allegations.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) later made a decision not to ban the entire Russian Olympic team from participating in the Rio Olympics, choosing to leave it to individual sports federations to decide on athletes' participation.
