The global death toll from the coronavirus has topped 3.9 million; over 183 million cases of the infection have been detected, according to Baltimore, Maryland's Johns Hopkins University, which tracks and compiles data from national and local authorities, the media and other sources.
The United States has the highest death toll and overall coronavirus tally, with 605,000 fatalities and 33 million infected. It is followed by India (30 million cases, 401,000 deaths) and Brazil (18 million cases and a death toll of over 523,000).
China has delivered over 480 million coronavirus vaccine doses to almost 100 countries and will continue to assist developing countries with their vaccination efforts, Foreign Minister Wang Yi said at the opening ceremony of the 9th World Peace Forum in Beijing.

Russia registered 25,142 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, bringing cumulative total to 5,610,941, the federal response centre said Sunday.

Moscow registered the highest number of new cases in this period — 7,624, the Moscow region had second highest number with 2,696, St, Petersburg third highest with 1,784.

In the last 24 hours, 663 deaths of people with COVID-19 were recorded across the country, 111 of them in Moscow. In the same period, 15,484 people were discharged from hospital in Russia with full recovery.

An Olympic athlete from Serbia tested positive for COVID-19 upon arrival in Japan, the Kyodo news agency reports.

The Serbian athlete was tested for the coronavirus at the Tokyo Haneda Airport. After getting a positive result, the athlete was isolated along with four other people who accompanied him, Kyodo said on Sunday citing health officials.

Last month, two members of Uganda’s Olympic delegation tested positive for COVID-19.
