COVID Live Updates: Too Early to Decide on Lockdown Ease in UK, Health Secretary Hancock Says

According to Johns Hopkins University (located in Baltimore, Maryland), at least 172.8 million people have been diagnosed with COVID-19 so far, while the global death toll from the coronavirus pandemic has surpassed 3.7 million.

The US remains the most affected nation amid the pandemic, confirming over 33.3 million cases of COVID-19 and a death toll of around 597,000.

It is followed by India, which witnessed a dramatic spike in infections last month, recording a total of 28.6 million infected and over 344,000 fatalities. Brazil rounds out the top three, with more than 16.9 million cases and the second-highest death toll in the world of around 472,000.

NEW DELHI (Sputnik) - India has registered the lowest daily number of COVID-19 infections in 60 days, reporting 114,460 new cases on Sunday, according to the Health Ministry.

India remains the world's second country in terms of the overall number of coronavirus infections — nearly 29 million. The death toll has reached 346,759 fatalities.

According to data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the number of people currently receiving medical treatment for COVID-19 symptoms is around 1.5 million, down from 3.7 million at the peak of the infections last month.
