COVID-19 Live Updates: UK Reports Nearly 17,000 Coronavirus Cases in 24 Hours

The death toll from COVID-19 across the world has topped 1.1 million, over 39.6 million cases of the infection have been detected, and more than 27 million of those patients have recovered, according to Baltimore's Johns Hopkins University, which tracks and compiles data from national and local authorities, the media and other sources.

Countries across the world continue to post record-breaking infection rates, as COVID-19 continues to spread.

The United States still has the highest case count in the world, with 8,105,888, including 219,285 fatalities and 3,220,573 who have recovered.

India is fast catching up with the United States in terms of overall COVID-19 cases, as it is seeing the largest number of new daily cases.

In Brazil, the third worst-hit country, the COVID-19 death toll has surpassed 153,000. In total, the country has confirmed over 5.2 million cumulative cases.
