The worldwide coronavirus tally has reached 19.7 million, and more than 729,000 have died from the disease, the Johns Hopkins University count shows.

The United States still has more cases than any other country, with more than 5 million cases, including over 162,900 fatalities, according to the university data.

Brazil and India are in second and third place in terms of the number of coronavirus cases after the US.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Another 13 coronavirus patients have died in the Russian capital in the past 24 hours, taking the toll to 4,585, the COVID-19 response centre said on Sunday.

"Thirteen coronavirus patients have died in Moscow. All of them were diagnosed with pneumonia and tested positive for the coronavirus infection", the centre said.

On Saturday, the city reported 12 coronavirus-related fatalities.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Russian and Turkish airlines will resume flights from Russia to Turkish resorts on Monday, the Russian aviation watchdog Rosaviatsiya said.

"The program of international flights will be expanded tomorrow. On August 10, flights of Russian and Turkish airlines will resume transferring Russians to the Turkish resort cities of Dalaman, Bodrum and Antalya," the statement said.

Aeroflot, S7, Ural Airlines, Royal Flight, Pobeda, Ikar, Red Wings, North Wind, Azur air, Rossiya, Ifly, Turkish Airlines, Pegasus Airlines and Corendon Airlines plan to start regular and charter flights from Moscow, St. Petersburg and Rostov-on-Don to Turkish resorts.

Greece has reported a record daily rise in the number of coronavirus cases: 203, including 29 tourists who were tested for the infection on their arrival in the country. 

The total number of cases in Greece currently stands at 5,623, the country's public health ministry says.

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the US has reached five million, which is the highest number in the world, Johns Hopkins University said.

As many as 56,174 new cases of COVID-19 infection were registered across the United States in the past 24 hours and 1,076 people died from the disease, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.

This takes the nationwide total to 4,998,802 infections while over 1.6 million patients have recovered. Over 162,000 deaths from the disease have been registered since the beginning of the pandemic in the United States, the university’s COVID-19 dashboard showed.

On Saturday, the number of new COVID-19 cases stood at 58,173, while the number of deaths totaled 1,243.

Globally, over 19.6 million cases of infection have been detected and nearly 730,000 people have died from the coronavirus since December 2019.

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Russia has increased by 5,189 to 887,536 in the last 24 hours, the response centre said on Sunday.

"In the last 24 hours, there have been 5,189 [newly] confirmed cases of the COVID-19 coronavirus infection in 84 regions, including 1,382 detected cases (26.6%) without clinical implications," the center said in a statement, adding that the total number of cases has risen to 887,536.

The growth rate of COVID-19 cases is at 0.6 percent.

More than 30.6 million tests for COVID-19 have been performed in Russia, with over 241,000 people being monitored, the country's consumer rights and human welfare watchdog, Rospotrebnadzor, said on Sunday.

"We have conducted over 30.6 million coronavirus tests in Russia. 241,925 people are remaining under medical supervision," the watchdog said in a statement, adding that 298,000 tests have been done in the last 24 hours.

Russia has confirmed a total of 882,347 cases of the coronavirus, and the death toll from the disease has reached 14,854.
