Last month, the US and Poland agreed upon six locations for the stationing of new US troops in the country.

Poland will be building facilities to house some US troops under the declaration just signed, US President Donald Trump said.

"We are signing a joint declaration [on] advancing defence cooperation with Poland and the United States," Trump said at a signing ceremony with Polish President Andrzej Duda in New York.

"Probably, we will be relocating troops from other European countries and won't be sending the new ones there," Trump said, denying speculation that increasing the US military presence in Poland is linked to Russia. "I do not think so at all," the US President said.

In August, the two countries agreed on six locations where the new US troops would be stationed. Prior to that, Warsaw and Washington signed a deal allowing the US to increase its military presence in Poland by 1,000 troops, in addition to the 4,500 troops stationed there under a NATO agreement.
