    Nobel Literature Prize Awarded to Kazuo Ishiguro

    The 2017 Nobel Prize in literature was awarded to Kazuo Ishiguro, a British novelist, the Swedish Academy announced on Thursday.

    The Nobel Prize in Literature for 2017 is awarded to the English author Kazuo Ishiguro ‘who, in novels of great emotional force, has uncovered the abyss beneath our illusory sense of connection with the world,’" the academy’s statement read.

    According to the statement, Ishiguro's works reveals "the abyss beneath our illusory sense of connection with the world."

    Ishiguro, 62, was born in Nagasaki, Japan but later moved with his family to England. He is considered to be one of the most celebrated British authors of his generation, having won Man Booker Prize for a renowned novel The Remains of the Day.
