Russia Welcomes US LNG Supplies to Europe – Putin
According to the country's Energy Minister Zygimantas Vaiciunas, US gas will boost the competitiveness of the regional energy market.

“Such events are a milestone in the history of the Lithuanian energy industry. Being a key strategic partner, the United States is also becoming an important partner delivering gas for the whole region. This will not only boost energy independence but also boost competition among gas suppliers, which will ensure the best gas prices for consumers in Lithuania and the whole region,” the minister said, as quoted by the ministry’s statement.

The agreement between Lithuania’s Lietuvos duju tiekimas company and Cheniere Marketing International was signed in June and envisages LNG deliveries of 140,000 cubic meters (4.9 million cubic feet) to Lithuania.

Lithuania also purchases LNG from Norway, Nigeria and Trinidad and Tobago.
