Washington has failed to win support of Latin American states for military action in Venezuela, Bolivian President Evo Morales said Friday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – "Complete failure of the United States. Vice President [Mike] Pence did not gain support for military intervention in Venezuela. Any interference will never be accepted," Morales tweeted.

Pence set out on a Latin America trip last Sunday, which is expected to focus on the Venezuelan crisis, two days after US President Donald Trump said Washington was considering a "military option" for Venezuela. Argentina, Bolivia, Chile and Colombia have already opposed a military intervention.

US is 'Cracking Down' on China's Interests in Venezuela
Venezuela was thrown into turmoil in March when its Supreme Court decided to restrict the power of the legislature. The decision was immediately reversed amid a backlash, but supporters of the parliament, who strive for the dismissal of the court members, took to the streets in early April, marking the start of deadly protests which have so far claimed lives of over 120 people.

The protests were further fueled by the July 30 Constituent Assembly vote. Venezuela's opposition, as well as the European Union and the United States, among others, have refused to recognize the body's legitimacy.
