A Russian nuclear submarine on Friday successfully struck a target in Russia’s northwestern Arkhangelsk region with a cruise missile, the Russian Navy announced.

"Today, the Northern Fleet's multipurpose nuclear submarine Severodvinsk successfully fired a Kalibr sea-based cruise missile. The crew conducted the underwater test launch from the Northern Fleet's test site in the Barents Sea. The target was in the Chizha testing ground in the Arkhangelsk region," the Fleet's press statement read.

The Navy said the missile had travelled around 373 miles. The Severodvinsk is the only Yasen-class submarine in the service of the Russian Navy. It has a submerged displacement of 13,800 tonnes, a length of 390 feet, can travel up to 31 knots, and can dive to 656 yards.
