India Tries to Reinforce Ties With Nepal While Watching Its Standoff With China
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Some 65 members of the US military have joined their Nepalese counterparts and civic groups to provide medical and engineering support to prepare for future humanitarian crises, US Pacific Command (PACOM) said in a press release.

"US and Nepalese service members will increase interoperability by learning best medical practices from one another, while giving back to the community as friends, partners and allies" the release said no Monday.

The exercise, which runs through Sunday, will also help local schools and health clinics repair and update infrastructure, the release explained.

The exercise in Nepal is the third of four humanitarian drills named Pacific Angel 2017, the release noted.

Previous events this year took place in Fiji and the Philippines with a final drill planned in Vietnam in September, according to the release.
