SCO, ASEAN Preparing Agreement on Anti-Terror Cooperation
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Chrystia Freeland concluded meetings with several nations in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) ministerial forum in the Philippines, Global Affairs Canada said in a press release on Monday.

"During her visit, the minister met bilaterally with counterparts and senior officials from Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and the European Union," the release stated.

The meetings included discussions on about the Islamic State terror group (banned in Russia), the threat of North Korea and on Canada’s priorities such as regional and international security, economics, human rights and climate change, the release said.

Additionally, Freeland announced 12 development, assistance and security projects totaling around $13 million. The ministry said the projects will help ASEAN member states improve security and combat terrorism and human trafficking.

Canada will also prove $7 million in humanitarian assistance throughout the region, the release added.
