    Mattis Says US Looks for Greater Defense Cooperation With Tunisia

    US Secretary of Defense James Mattis met with Tunisian Prime Minister Youssef Chahed on Monday and expressed the willingness of the United States to enhance defense cooperation with the country, Pentagon chief spokesperson Dana White said in a press release after the meeting.

    WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The defense minister has also reiterated US commitment to supporting Tunisia, and noted progress in military training and intelligence sharing.

    "Secretary Mattis lauded Tunisia for its leadership in promoting regional security and stability in Northern Africa and expressed his desire for greater defense cooperation in the future," the release stated.
