Crimean authorities plan to hold meetings with foreign expat communities, including the Ukrainian one, Crimean Deputy Prime Minister Georgy Muradov said Wednesday.

SIMFEROPOL (Sputnik) — The deputy prime minister added that the meetings would be carried out as part of Crimea's international cooperation program.

"We plan to hold a series of meetings with foreign expat communities, with compatriots. We talk about the events of such level and format with the Ukrainian expat community … We will definitely cooperate with the Ukrainians living in different countries around the world," Muradov told Sputnik Radio, without specifying the dates of those meetings.

According to the 2014 census, the Russian population of Crimea amounts to 1.5 million people, while almost 345,000 identify as Ukrainians and over 232,000 as Crimean Tatars.
