India and Kyrgyzstan also agreed to work together to overcome the challenges posed by terrorism, extremism and radicalism.
"We discussed how we could work together to secure our youth and society against the common challenges to terrorism, extremis and radicalism. We agreed on the need to coordinate and work closely in addressing and overcoming these challenges for our common benefit. We regard Kyrgyz Republic as a valuable partner in common pursuit of making Central Asia a region of sustainable peace, stability and prosperity," Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in his statement.
Both the countries also agreed to bolster defense cooperation. India has utilized Soviet-era high tech testing facilities in Kyrgyzstan for a variety of equipment including torpedos.
"President Atambaev and I reviewed our cooperative engagement in the defense field. We have commenced work on a Kyrgyz-India Joint Military Training in Kyrgyz Republic. Our joint military exercises on counter-terrorism are now an annual feature. The next edition has been planned for first quarter of next year in Kyrgyz Republic," Prime Minister Modi said.
Earlier, Atambaev was given a ceremonial reception and guard of honor at the Rashtrapati Bhawan (President House).
The Kyrgyz President will address the India-Kyrgyz Joint Business Council on Wednesday so as to boost the bilateral trade between the two countries.
Kyrgyzstan is one of the key Central Asian country where India is increasing its sphere of influence. Atambaev's visit to India are expected to further strengthen bilateral relations.
