Russia and Japan could establish cooperation on the closed nuclear fuel cycle technologies, CEO of Russia’s Rosatom nuclear energy corporation said Friday.

TOKYO (Sputnik) — Russia and Japan could establish cooperation on the closed nuclear fuel cycle technologies and on fast neutron reactors, Alexey Likhachev, CEO of Russia’s Rosatom nuclear energy corporation, said Friday.

"What [the memorandum] is all about? First of all about development of the so-called closed [nuclear] fuel cycle, in practice it means minimization of nuclear power plants' waste and multiple use of spent nuclear fuel," Likhachev told reporters, adding that the closed nuclear fuel cycle could be used in light water reactors and in fast neutron reactors.

Earlier in the day, Russia and Japan signed a memorandum on cooperation in the sector of peaceful nuclear energy.

There is no future for fission without breeding because supplys of U235 are quite limited.

Interestingly, the energy content of Gazproms reserves is roughly comperable to the proven reserves in U235 worldwide, I did the math once.

The best way forward is to use nuclear fission for the base load, wind and solar in between and hydrocarbon gas turbine power plants for the peaks.

But last I checked, Russia have plants that deplete all nuclear waste turns it harmless. Teaching Japan?
Russia DO have a working Fission plant. I always wonder why is this Japan so important for? '
Russia will have all the cash it ever needs anyways. Trade is progressing. Meats need to go more out. But progress is there. Next is cotton and other raw materials, without GMO. Russia may find ways to grow all with close results without GMO or anything like that.

While E.U is trying to play the IMPORTANT people and call attention to news, playing the RIGHTFUL PEOPLE while sanctioning Russia, Russia can't stop keeping silent and at times doing blunders.
Can Russia build Lexus and get all technologies transfers? No?
